Bio-Fabrication Space & Research Institute
A community biofabrication research institute committed to bringing
impactful bioscience research to life.
About
A community biofabrication research institute committed to bringing impactful bioscience research to life.
The Lifefabs Institute BSL 1 lab space is London’s open-access collaborative playground, providing creatives, scientists and communities access to low-cost research-grade facilities.
Our mission is to empower everyone to contribute to the field of scientific discovery by establishing alternative production models to support and provide a hub for researchers to invent, build and translate projects into impactful real-world application.
Lifefabs is currently accepting researcher applications across Biodesign, Healthcare, Nature and Biotechnology.

Lifefabs Institute also hosts MIT Media Lab Lab’s Synthetic Biology Course.
HTGAA (How to Grow Almost Anything)
Lifefabs Institute is comprised of interdisciplinary research groups, themes and projects,
working collaboratively to
transform new ideas.
Our Institute is made up of a network of researchers, academics and residents from a wide range of disciplines, levels and backgrounds. By having our local-resident researchers work alongside academics our projects gain better understanding of their contexts, local contraints and translations, which helps build a community of ideas that solve real issue and become useful in their contexts.
To achieve our mission of supporting impactful research developed by all, we house four research clusters and working groups.

Join us in the co-fabrication studio - and start a project!
Studio members receive access to Lifefabs facility, equipment and basic training from
our team. While wider community members can book a walk-in to come and develop a project or their biofabrication skills.
Discover our reasearch-grade equipment and facilities here.
Feel free to reach out if you have a research idea - or if you’d like to bring your expertise to an existing community research project. Open community research projects are designed to enable interdisciplinary collaboration, mutual learning and skill sharing between members. We are specificially interested in supporting projects oriented towards healthcare, biodesign, society + technology.
Applications for membership are reviewed on a rolling basis - after receiving your responses, one of our team will reach out to schedule a meeting and lab walk through.
